Cherokee |
The
Competition |
1.
Sidewalls |
Non Laminated Walls (this is awesome)
Cherokee sprays on the exterior fiberglass in a liquid format that
chemically bonds to the wall. The benefit is there is no glue
involved to fail. It can't delaminate like all the other products
that rely on glue. On toy haulers where the weight shifts a lot,
it's well worth the extra money to go with a non laminated wall.
The other way Cherokee builds their walls is corrugated aluminum which
can't delaminate and is lighter and less expensive. The downside
might be possible hail damage but is negated since most insurance
companies will cover that, since it's weather related. |
Laminated Walls
The problem with the old style thin laminated walls is they can
delaminate when the glue
fails. Moisture gets to that backing leaving it to disintegrate
and the fiberglass to buckle and flap in the wind. If it
delaminates, most times the RV has to be taken back to the factory where
they have to fully separate the wall and then reapply it. It's
about an $8,000-$10,000 process. I haven't found another name
other than Forest River that carries a toy hauler that doesn't
delaminate. |
2.
Stability |
Cedar
Creek
is owned by Forest River Inc. - Berkshire Hathaway, (a Warren Buffett
company) and is debt free. They are the strongest RV manufacturer
out there because of their financial backing and are known for quality.
This is important for your warranty, for parts to be available and the
value of your coach. |
2009 Stats - Many manufactures are on the brink of closing or
have already failed.
Fleetwood - Recently filed Chapter 11.
Weekend Warrior - Bank assignee is selling corporate assets.
Pilgrim - Indefinitely closes plants.
Keystone - To layoff 15% of workforce.
Jayco - Released 20% of workforce.
Monaco Coach (R-Vision) - Recently filed Bankruptcy.
Country Coach - In Chapter 11
Sundowner Trailers - Closes Elkhart operations.
Travel Supreme - Ceases operations.
National RV - Files for chapter 11 bankruptcy |
3.
Floors |
5/8" Tongue & groove, marine grade, treated, plywood,
decking throughout the floor. This is the same kind of wood they
use to build a boat. It's also a sealed floor with Duratex barrier
to keep critters out of there. |
OSB or chip board (which is held together by glue) is usually
installed in the floor to save money. This is a horrible idea
especially in a toy hauler where you are going to be driving things in
the camper that weighs several hundred lbs. You'll eventually bust a water
line, break the hot water heater, the shower overflow, spill water on
the floor or even have your ceiling or slide leak. This can cause
the floor to cup and bow. It's difficult and expensive to replace
a subfloor in a camper because of how tightly placed everything is. |
4.
Gel Coat Gloss finish |
Cherokee has a true layer of Owens Cornings Gelcoat Exterior. The benefit
is you will keep that high gloss new look for a lot longer. Ten
years down the road it will still be hard to tell a difference on the
outside from a new one and your Cherokee because of that Gelcoat.
It won't fade like your used to seeing. |
On normal filon fiber glass, the sun beats on it
for a few years and starts to yellow. That's because the sun has eaten
through the paint and the yellow fibers are starting to show through the
paint. The other problem is if you ever have to repair a spot they
have to use gel coat so you will have a bright white spot while the rest
of the camper fades. |
5.
No Wheel Wells |
Another innovative feature from Wolf Pack is that we
have NO WHEEL WELL INTRUSIONS even on our DFWP models. No other lite weight toy hauler can claim that.
|
Wheel wells are ideal to stick up out of the floor because that
means less actual room for your toys. |
| 6. Construction |
Aluminum Ramp Door. 4x4 Wolf Pack Beaver Tail for easier loading
and unloading of toys. Very useful so you don't scrape the bottom
on your low clearance street bikes. 2,500 Lbs Flush Floor mounts.
Hurricane Straps for strength and flexibility in the ceiling. |
|
7.
Roof |
The one piece rubber roof has a 12 year warranty.
3/8" Walkable Roof Decking. |
|
8.
Frame |
Powder Coated Frame. The benefit is powder coated frames won't
rust. |
Painted frames will eventually rust. |
| 10. Diamond Plate |
Wolf Pack Diamond Plate helps protect your investment
from rocks being picked up behind your truck hitting the front. |
A lot of other toy haulers out there either have a diamond plate
that goes only a foot up or nothing which dings up the front. |
12.
Water Heater |
Water tank capacity is 110 Gallons (n/a 18DFWP). Turbo Hot water heater with a 16.2 gallon refresh rate
per hour. That means by the time someone gets out the shower the
tank is already getting close to fully recovering. It also has a
water by-pass - nice for easy winterization and better tasting fresh
water. |
Most campers have a 7.4 gallon refresh rate per hour. That
goes for both the 6 gallon tanks and the 10 gallon tanks. That
means once you use up that 10 gallons, it will take over and hour to get
that 10 gallons back. If you don't have a water heater by pass
then you have to fill the entire water heater tank with anti-freeze.
It's not good to fill your water heater with that stuff and it makes
your water taste gross. |
| 13. Landing gear, pins |
The quick release front snap jacks
are really easy to use. |
The pin always has dirt and grease on it and it never goes in the first
time. You have to jiggle it just right to get the pin to go in.
Also keep in mind your not always doing this in the daytime. |
14.
Sewer - Black Tank Flush |
Built in black tank flush so that all you have to do to
rinse your sewer system is put the water hose on a port on the
side and there are sprayers on the inside of the tank. |
If you don't have a black tank flush you need to drag
your hose into your bathroom, open the toilet and spray the tank out
after each camping trip. You can buy an adapter spray wand to
stick on the end of the hose to stick in the toilet but that's not much
more pleasant either. |
15.
Cold Weather Ready |
Double
insulation in our high profile fifth wheels, in addition to Enclosed &
Heated holding tanks (We are one of the only dealerships that special
order Wolf Pack insulation this thick for the colder Colorado weather.)
This is great for the late hunting season and early spring. |
|
16.
Large Dinette |
Industry Exclusive Extra Large Dinette.
Fit everyone one around the table for your card game. You can
easily fit 3 adults on each bench comfortably. |
Most campers the dinette is big enough to fit maybe one adult and
one kid on each side comfortably. |
17.
Gas Fuel
Station |
Gas Pump Fuel Station
- Hold up to 30 gal of gas for your toys and generator which is usually
more than plenty. |
Those plastic gas cans are okay except when it gets hot
and expand. You don't want to carry those in the coach because of the
smell of the fumes but also for safety reasons. |
18.
Rubber
Flooring |
Diamond Plate Black Rubber Flooring. (Optional feature that we
specifically bring in on our Wolf Packs as a dealership (n/a
21DFWP/18DFWP). |
Linoleum tends to scuff, mar, cut and crack easier.
This is important because you are driving an ATV over this area and
should be better protected. |
19.
Price |
Not all Toy Haulers are created equal. Cherokee Wolf Packs are by
far a better value than all the other Toy Haulers out there. You
can pay several thousand more and end up with a Toy Hauler that doesn't
have near the features or quality Cherokee has. |
Honestly, there are few toy haulers out there that have
some features that they try to differentiate themselves. They
never add up to the price jump you'll have to pay for them. Wolf
Pack has the best floor plans and value in the Toy Hauler Market. |
20.
Wide Body |
Cherokee Wolf Packs are 102" Wide Body instead of 96" wide so that you
can fit more toys in the coach. |
96" or even 99" wide means you can't fit a two ATVs
side by side. |
